Cookie Policy
Turkish and English versions are provided for convenience. No language version is declared to override the other.
This service uses a small number of cookies: the ones that sign you in and keep the session safe, and two that remember your language and your theme. There is no advertising cookie and no cross-site tracking. Analytics are optional, switched off by default, and never loaded without your consent. While only essential and preference storage is in use, no consent banner is shown, because there is nothing to consent to.
1. What this policy covers
This policy covers cookies and similar storage that World of Bidders uses in your browser: cookies, browser local storage, and any script that would set an identifier.
It sits alongside the Privacy Policy, which explains what happens to information once it reaches the server.
2. The four categories
Everything this service stores in your browser falls into one of four groups:
- Essential authentication — signs you in and keeps you signed in.
- Security and session storage — protects the session and the payment flow.
- Preferences — remembers your language and your theme.
- Optional analytics — off by default, and never loaded without consent.
The first three are required for the product to work at all. The fourth is not.
3. Essential authentication
Signing in sets session cookies through the authentication provider that backs the service. They identify your session to the server so your account, your claims and your checkout are yours and not someone else's.
These cookies are strictly necessary. Blocking them means you cannot sign in, cannot claim a territory, and cannot reach your account. They are cleared when you sign out and when the session expires.
4. Security and session storage
Session state is also used to protect requests that change something: creating a checkout, submitting profile content, and filing a report. This is what stops a different site from performing those actions on your behalf.
Server-side security logging is described in the Privacy Policy. It does not rely on a cookie.
5. Preference cookies
Two preference cookies are set, both first-party, both readable only by this service:
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers whether you chose Turkish or English | 1 year |
| wob-theme | Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme | 1 year |
Blocking them is harmless. The language then falls back to your browser preference and the theme falls back to your operating system setting, and both choices simply stop being remembered between visits.
The browser's local storage additionally keeps the resolved theme, so the page does not flash the wrong colours before it renders, and the last map camera position. That state never leaves your device.
6. Optional analytics
Product analytics are disabled by default. While they are disabled, no analytics script is requested, no analytics cookie is written, and no analytics identifier exists.
If the operator enables analytics, their purpose is to count which parts of the map and which pages get used. They are never used for advertising, never used to build a cross-site profile, and never used to identify you personally.
7. Why there is no cookie banner
A consent banner exists to ask permission for storage that needs permission. While only essential authentication, security storage and the two preference cookies are in use, there is nothing to ask about, so no banner is shown.
Showing a banner that has no real choice behind it trains people to click through consent without reading it. This service does not do that.
8. If analytics are ever enabled
Should analytics be switched on, they are not loaded until you have answered, and the notice follows these rules:
- Accept and Reject are presented with equal prominence. Rejecting is one click, exactly like accepting.
- Rejecting is the outcome if you close or dismiss the notice without choosing.
- Your answer is stored together with the version of the consent notice you answered, so a later change to what is being asked requires a fresh answer.
- Nothing analytics-related is loaded before you accept.
9. Changing or withdrawing consent
You can change your answer at any time from the controls on this page. Rejecting after having accepted stops further analytics collection and removes the analytics storage this service controls.
Withdrawing consent never affects sign-in, claiming, payments, or your language and theme preferences.
10. Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and local storage, per site and in general. Private or incognito windows discard everything at the end of the session.
Blocking all cookies for this service means you cannot stay signed in. Blocking only third-party cookies has no effect here, because this service sets none.
11. Third parties
The payment step takes place on Stripe Checkout, on Stripe's own domain, under Stripe's cookie and privacy notices. Cookies set there are Stripe's, not this service's.
Map tiles and geographic data are fetched as files. They do not set cookies. No advertising network, social widget or cross-site tracker is embedded anywhere in this product.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy is versioned, and the current version and effective date are shown at the top of this page. If a new category of storage is introduced, this policy is updated before it starts, and consent is requested where consent is required.
